Busy week for the boys in blue!

Keith Alexander

Macc Town have a busy week ahead of them as the pre season campaign reaches it’s conclusion. The Silkmen firstly travel to Hednesford Town tomorrow evening, folowing by home matches with Stockport (Tuesday) and Chengdu Blades (Thursday).

The final friendly will take place at Bower Fold next Saturday when the Silkmen make the short journey up to Bower Fold to face Steve Burr’s Stalybridge Celtic.

Silkmen fans have certainly had their football fix nutured over the past week or two with an astonishing amount of games being played. But with no reserve keeper and inconsistent performances, are they going to be that beneficial come August 2nd?

Wiles return seems dead and buried

Macc fans hoping to see Simon Wiles back at the Moss Rose have suffered a massive setback as the youngster has been offered a new contract at Blackpool.

The tricky winger was a fans favourite whilst at the Moss and certainly added to our attacking options. Yet the Seasiders have offered him a surprise new contract after it was all but sorted that he would be making his way out of Bloomfield Road.

Wonder if KA will try and sign him on loan?

Don’t think that Wilesy will fit in with the gaffer’s style of football though – what do you think?

Silkmen announce Northern Ireland tour

The Silkmen have confirmed that they will be taking part in a three match tour of Northern Ireland in preparation for the 08/09 season.

They will kick off the tour with a match against Larne on 15th July and follow this up with matches against Bangor (July 19th) and a match two days prior to this against as yet unconfirmed opposition.

Keith Alexander has taken sides to the area previously and has stated that this has always been a worthwhile experience and one which should yield benefits to the team.

Super-Silkmen.com will bring you details of the final match to be confirmed as and when we receive it.

Lee Trundle - forgive and forget or still hate him?

This may just be me, but I still like Lee Trundle after his two fingered salute to the Macc fans when playing for Swansea.

The FA Cup tie at the Vetch saw the hosts run out winners and all those there will remember the Scouser coming over to the Macc fans and giving it large!

Should I forgive and forget or will I take great pleasure if he misses the decisive penalty in today’s Championship play off final?

Myhill ready for Bristol test

Former Silkmen keeper Boaz Myhill is an hour away from the biggest match of his life as he lines up for Hull City in the Championship final.

The Tigers face Bristol City for a place in the Premier League after finishing third in the Championship.

Myhill was a class act whilst at Moss Rose , and it is no surprise to see him one of the most highly rated keepers in the country at the moment.

As previous articles have stated, Myhill will team up with former Silkmen boss Brian Horton to make this year’s Championship final a real treat for Macc fans.

Lets hope for a great game whatever the result!

Silkmen set to learn fixtures on 16th June

Macclesfield Town will learn who they will play during the 2008/2009 season on Monday 16th June at 10am.

Over recent years, Macc have been dealt some very tricky away ties to kick of the season so it is about time we are given a home match to start with.

The full list will be published on this site on the day so keep viewing there isn’t too long to go now!

Marriott set to link up with KA again?

Rumours have suggested that former Lincoln City goalkeeper Alan Marriot is set to join up with Keith Alexander again at Moss Rose.

The experienced 29 year old was surprisingly released by the Imps at the end of last season and has thought to have attracted the attention of several League Two clubs.

However, he will still have a great affinity with Alexander, as well as new signing Simon Yeo, and this could be enough to see him sign on the dotted line.

The Silkmen will be actively looking for a keeper following Tommy Lee’s departure and all the signs suggest that Marriott will be the man to fill the gap.

Remember you heard it hear first guys!
